Assign Leadership Roles
Overview
Scout Manager uses role-based access control. Each adult can be assigned one or more roles that determine what they can see and do in the system.
Required role: Administrator or Leader
Available Roles
| Role | What They Can Do |
|---|---|
| Administrator | Full access to all features, unit settings, and user management |
| Leader | Manage members, events, communications, and advancement |
| Treasurer | Manage financial accounts, record transactions, run financial reports |
| Awards Coordinator | Sign off requirements, grant awards, run advancement reports |
| Den/Patrol Leader | Manage their assigned den or patrol members |
| Committee Member | View-only access to unit information |
| Merit Badge Counselor | View scouts and sign off on requirements |
Steps
1. Navigate to the Member’s Profile
Go to Membership → Adults and click on the adult you want to assign a role to.
2. Open Role Assignment
Click the Roles tab, then click Add Role.
3. Select a Role
Choose the appropriate role from the dropdown and click Save.
4. Confirm Access
The adult will now have access to the features granted by their role the next time they log in.
Tips
- Adults can have multiple roles (e.g., Leader + Treasurer)
- Removing a role immediately revokes access to those features
- The person who created the unit is automatically an Administrator
